Order No.2000 was for two
3'-6" gauge 2-4-0 tank locomotives works progressive Nos.
704 & 705 supplied in 1866 for use on the Norwegian State
Railway numbered 2 " Tryggve" 3 "Sigurd"
Referred to by BP as "2000" class this was the first
BP order for 3'-6" gauge and became a prototype for many
similar engines sent to railways in South America, Western Australia,
Northern Ireland & the Isle of Man.
The driving wheels were 3'-9"
in diameter and the outside cylinders 11" dia x 18"
stroke with a boiler pressure of 120 psi.
The railway placed 19 orders
for a total of 59 locomotives which included 25 "2000"
class locomotives. The last order, order No. 6335 for two 2-4-0
tank engines works progressive Nos. 2372 & 2373 was completed
in 1883.
"Alf", one of two
locomotives supplied to Order No. 2528 for two 2-4-0 tank engines
works progressive Nos. 992 & 993 numbered 4 "Alf"
& 12 "Eivind", was withdrawn from service in 1923
and preserved at NSB Museum at Storhamer, Hamar. |
